It's impossible to tell the story of Coal Creek Farm Jenks without remembering those who fostered a love for the outdoors in owners Shannon and Mitch Wilburn. Mitch's parents Nancy and Larry (or "Nanny and Boomie" as they were more commonly known) felt there was nothing closer to heaven on earth than Hawaii—except maybe their home in Quitman, Texas. You could regularly find the pair enjoying the great spaces around their Texas home, especially during family visits that usually involved ATVs, tractors or the occasional chainsaw (for trimming up around the place).
All those special times and memories are among Mitch and Shannon's favorites. They know that having a great space to make memories happen is such a treasure. So when the land that is now Coal Creek Farm Jenks became available, they were thrilled to purchase and develop the property to be a space that others could love and enjoy, too.
If you look around the property, you may see some dogwood trees. These were planted in memory of Boomie and Nanny who loved to walk the Lake Lydia Dogwood Trail in East Texas. In their honor, Mitch planted 100 seedlings during the spring of 2017. We don't know how many will bloom in the coming years, but we are excited to see. This property is dedicated in loving memory to Nanny and Boomie.
